Jonathan Taylor Thomas has reappeared in a new photo with two members of his Home Improvement family, giving fans a rare current glimpse of the former teen star. Patricia Richardson posted the image on Instagram on Wednesday, July 29, with Thomas on one side and Taran Noah Smith on the other.
Richardson, who played Jill Taylor, captioned the photo “My other boys” with a heart. Thomas, 44, played middle son Randy Taylor, while Smith, 42, played youngest son Mark Taylor on the ABC sitcom.

The outlet also revisited Richardson’s 2024 comments that neither she nor Thomas had been approached about a revival, and that Thomas was more interested in directing and writing than returning to acting.
Tim Allen said in June that a possible follow-up remained difficult to assemble. That makes the new photograph evidence of continuing personal ties among some former cast members—not evidence that the long-discussed reboot has moved into production.
Where Thomas has been
Thomas stepped away from the pace of childhood fame in the early 2000s and pursued higher education. He later made several guest appearances on Allen’s sitcom Last Man Standing between 2013 and 2015, but he has otherwise remained largely outside the spotlight.
