There, I said it. It does not need to be twenty minutes with organ music. Give me seven minutes to stretch and come back without missing a scene. If a pause ruins the spell, apparently every streaming viewer with a bathroom has already ruined cinema.

Hard no. A theater is one of the last places where I cannot pause something, and that is part of the appeal. Choose the long movie or do not choose it.

Seven minutes would also make the concession line less ridiculous before the movie. I am unexpectedly all in on this.
I remember in the UK in the 1970’s and 1980’s, long films such as The Sound Of Music for example always had an intermission midway. But then also there was always a showing of a B movie with an intermission then the main feature film. I know that my Grandchildren can’t get through a whole feature film without at least one “comfort break” but then the sizes of the drinks available to buy at the cinema would tax anyone’s bladder i would imagine 😉🤷🏻♀️
