Hi Abel,
I like the race a stranger feature, as I have already told you. The thing is, that if you play someone, it would be good to see who you are playing. It would also be good if you were notified when you win or how much you have won by. Otherwise that’s it if you don’t stop and wait in the room. A weekly league table would be good with a win scoring a point and user names being shown in the table.
That and the other features that I suggested in my last email

Hey Mrs. Mac!
We incorporated showing how many boxes the competing player has left in one of the last few updates.
Adding chat and profile for race a stranger and together boards in the upcoming update awaiting Apple and Google approval. Additionally we are adding the ability to like other people’s scores! you may have seen me liking a few scores or getting the push notifications, this will be clearly shown once Apple approves the new update.
I like the push notification idea of notifying the person when they won and by how much. I will work on this for the following update. Agree it’s annoying to have to wait for the other person to finish to know the results.
A weekly league would be great, my concern is how many people currently actively play. Would love to hear more about how you envision it working, I might be wrong in my assumption we need a lot more active players. That was actually one of the main issues with race a stranger at first, and partly with together boards (although for together boards we solved by letting people randomly join the board at any time).
Let me put on my thinking cap and work on some of those!

Hi Abel,
The opponents’ numbers left is an excellent feature.
I did have a notification that you had liked my daily score today, thank you. I then went looking to see if I could do it, but it must be in the next update.
With a weekly league it would refresh at the end of the week and everyone would start from zero again. As for the whys and wherefores , I’m not sure, these are features from other apps that I play which I thought would work with your app. 🤷🏻♀️🤣
CraftyMrsMac · Aug 10, 2026
Hi Abel, you have been really busy overnight! 😊 I’ve just raced a stranger and I had notification by email with times and user name.
It’s fantastic, thank you 🙏
Abel Duarte · Aug 10, 2026
Check out the new app update, Apple approved a few hours ago. It now has a history feature as well!
Abel Duarte · Aug 12, 2026
Do you think Race mode should work as it does today letting both parties finish? or should the match end when someone wins?
Maya Chen · Aug 15, 2026
I’d let both players finish, but separate winning from completion. The first correct finish determines the winner; the other player can keep solving with a clear "race decided" banner and an optional end-now button. That preserves the value of completing the puzzle without making the winner wait for closure. The key is showing the result immediately so nobody thinks the race is still open.

Hi Abel, I love all the changes that I’ve woken up to this morning. They’re fab, thank you.👏
CraftyMrsMac · Aug 19, 2026
However, I cannot select the Race a stranger option?
CraftyMrsMac · Aug 19, 2026
I can’t select on iPad, but I can on iPhone
Abel Duarte · Aug 20, 2026
Reproduced the issue, will be addressed in the next patch. Thank you!

Hello,
More difficulties in co-op mode would be really great. :)
Abel Duarte · Aug 20, 2026
Thanks Linavich, had that initially but made it random assignment because we did not have yet enough users. Definitely want to bring it back once the community grows a little more.
Linavich · Aug 21, 2026
Yay! That will be really great. I love far from most I am close to and we like working on puzzles together.
CraftyMrsMac · Sep 1, 2026
Hi Abel is there any chance of having more hard or expert grids in race a stranger? I only seem to get easy or medium’s
Abel Duarte · Sep 1, 2026
Let me check the logic, it's a bit of a balancing act. Most people tend to only complete easy puzzles which is why I lowered difficulties across the board.
Do you think it would be fair to base it off the player's skill / number of completed games and/or win rate? Eg: If someone has a pretty strong win rate have them get harder puzzles?
Blitz solves some of the original problem by making very easy / fast to solve puzzles on multiplayer available. So maybe we can just bump the regular sudoku races back to their former difficulties.
Share me your thoughts!

Quick update — I checked the data and have now made some changes.
Since Blitz was introduced on August 29, regular Race produced 10 matches: 7 Easy, 3 Medium, and no Hard or Expert. Blitz produced 59 matches during the same period. That is still a small sample, so it isn’t enough to make strong claims about completion or retention, but it does show that regular Race was offering very little difficulty variety.
The previous regular Race split was:
- 80% Easy
- 15% Medium
- 4% Hard
- 1% Expert
I’ve now changed it to:
- 45% Easy
- 35% Medium
- 15% Hard
- 5% Expert
Blitz will remain the very easy, fast multiplayer option, with only 14 open cells. That gives regular Race more room to provide variety and a meaningful challenge without removing the accessible option.
I also adjusted the Daily Challenge. Previously its ten-day rotation was 7 Easy, 2 Medium, 1 Hard, and no Expert. Its new twenty-day rotation is:
- 10 Easy
- 6 Medium
- 3 Hard
- 1 Expert
That works out to 50% Easy, 30% Medium, 15% Hard, and 5% Expert. Expert will therefore appear about once every twenty days, adding some variety without making the daily streak routinely punishing.
I still like the idea of factoring in completed games, win rate, or player rating later. First, I want to observe how this more balanced shared mix performs. If we add skill-aware difficulty afterward, it should be decided server-side using both players’ ratings, while continuing to give both players the exact same puzzle and avoiding additional matchmaking queues.
Thanks for raising it — please let me know how the new balance feels! Hope you are enjoying the new puzzle look too

Hi Abel,
A little bit of feedback.
I’m really enjoying the new difficulty settings. It doesn’t do to win all the time, and I actually like being made to work a bit harder for it!
I’ve tried the power-ups too. I think I’d still rather play without them, but that’s probably just the purist in me 😂
I absolutely love the larger, clearer grid. The pencil marks are so much easier to see now, which makes a real difference. In fact, they’re so much clearer that I’m not sure the pencil highlight square is really needed anymore.
With Race a Stranger, I personally find the chat a little distracting because it can get in the way of the race itself. I wonder if it might work better in Play with a Stranger or Play with a Friend instead? That said, other players may feel completely differently about it.
One thing I would really love is for the chat to stay open in those modes once the game has finished. At the moment, the game ends and the chat disappears with it, which can feel a bit abrupt if you’re in the middle of a conversation.
But overall, I’m really enjoying the changes and it’s lovely to see the game continuing to evolve.
Abel Duarte · Sep 4, 2026
I agree with you on the magnifying glass, I am thinking of maybe putting it in settings as an additional accessibility feature if the person still has trouble seeing notes or is playing in smaller devices.
Chat being enabled or disabled can maybe go there too (eg: Allow others to chat with me)
Added lots more stuff today to make playing feel even more rewarding with animations and sound (can be disabled).
love the feedback, keep it coming!
CraftyMrsMac · Sep 2, 2026
Thanks Abel — I really like this approach, and I appreciate you looking into it and making changes so quickly.
The new split for regular Race sounds much better to me. I think having Blitz as the quick/easier option gives Race the freedom to offer a proper mixture of difficulties, rather than both modes effectively doing the same job.
I also really like your idea of eventually taking a player’s rating, completed games and/or win rate into account. It seems a sensible way of giving stronger players more of a challenge without making things unnecessarily difficult for newer players, particularly if both people in the race still receive exactly the same puzzle.
I’ll definitely give the new balance a good try and let you know how it feels. And yes — I do like the new puzzle look! 😊
Thanks again for taking the feedback on board.
